11/05/2010 - International Director announces New community health initiative.

The Founder and International Director of ICROSS Michael Meegan announced today a long term strategy towards improving ICROSS primary health care systems. Together with Public health partners and the ICROSS health teams we are extending hygiene and sanitation starting in June 2010. Saruni Ole Lengeny, the Asst Country Director noted that the project will be drawing together our key areas of development including community based health care and low cost technologies that support health promotion.

The International Director said that as part of marking our 30 years of activities " We will be working with all our field programmes at strengthening community resources at village level. Over the next 6 months we will all be closely working together in the villages with
our health teams and community health workers. Despite the many
challenges facing rural communities all of us in ICROSS remain committed to the next decade of service in the communities." The International Director will be meeting community leaders and chiefs next week together with ICROSS managers to share community health plans and community needs.

Welcome, thank you for coming to our web site.

ICROSS began its activities in 1978. We aim at providing long-term assistance to the nomadic communities of the sub-Saharan region. We act as a catalyst and all our projects are run and owned by the communities we serve. We work to improve health and living standards using their own culture. We work within a five-year strategic plan. This was developed with the Ministry of Health in Kenya and sets out long term goals.

Remember, you have the power to change tomorrow.

Dr. Michael Elmore Meegan - Founder and International Director ICROSS.
