New Collaborations
In 2006 we began an EU funded collaborative study into Solar disinfection of water. This study is now complete. It was developed through a series of previous studies that we have conducted in partnership with health researchers around the World.
The original idea put forward by Professor David Morley of the Institute of child health was about low cost technology. Our early work in water borne disease dates back to 1989; http://rehydrate.org/dd/dd39.htm
In 1994 ICROSS with colleagues at the Royal College of Surgeons completed the only clinical trials in Solar disinfection in areas of high mortality from Diarrhoea. The new EU funded study will involve 7 countries and take five years to complete. In 2008 we have extended our collaborative research programme an we are currently developing our public health research unit.
